Remember that jobs report that showed something like 248,000 new jobs?
Right off the top, we can account for a bunch of those “new jobs”.
“In August, many of the chain’s 25,000 workers in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont had their hours cut as customers and warehouse and delivery workers boycotted the stores to support ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.
“Demoulas bought a controlling share of the company from his estranged family on Aug. 27 and immediately restored the boycotting workers to their jobs.
“That contributed to a 20,000-job boost in food and beverage stores, according to the BLS report.”
Yep. They counted as “new jobs” the folks who walked out in protest of insane management (something like 99% of the customers boycotted, too), and returned (with said customers) when the previous CEO came back.
