Someone wanted to see a sample. This one was convenient.

molon-labe-doorHandmade paper, homemade iron/tannin ink. It replaced an earlier laminated computer-printed sign in modern alphabet.

Neat. It’s also an amusing self-portrait.

Can’t tell much about the actual paper, but love the picture. Are those bells or light fixtures above it? 🙂

Bells. It’s hard to open or close that door without ringing the bells and waking me up.

(Actually, trucks driving by wake me up, so that’s no real trick.)

I wake up frequently anyway, for other reasons, but noise isn’t one of them usually. I’m so deaf anymore, and I sleep in the basement. There isn’t much traffic on my road at any time either, but almost none at night. The exception is around the 4th of July. Lots of fireworks around here then. I don’t get to sleep much for a couple of nights.

Bells on the door would be a good idea for lots of folks, however. I have a good dog, so that’s taken care of too. Luckily, the chances of anyone trying to break in here are slim to none. Don’t think anyone could be in this town for more than half an hour without knowing about the crazy lady up the hill who carries a gun. 🙂

The sheriff brought a new deputy out one day, just to introduce him. Bryan used my legal name, so I told the new kid that I’m also known as “MamaLiberty.” He grinned ear to ear and said, “Yes ma’am! You’re famous.”
