This does explain certain Army officers* I encountered

Pillow Fight at West Point Caused 24 Concussions
The Aug. 20 pillow fight — an annual tradition at the prestigious academy and a way for first-year cadets to have some fun after a rigorous month of summer training — also resulted in other serious injuries: a broken nose, a dislocated shoulder, and a hairline cheekbone fracture, school officials said.

In total, 30 cadets were evaluated by medical personnel, Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr. said in a statement.

But I attribute Air Farce officers’ mental challenges to congenital issues rather than Traumatic Brain Injury.

* In my experience, West Point grads tended to be either very good, or oh-dear-Bog-frag-‘im-for-the-sake-of-the-unit horrific. OTOH, most AF Academy grads were Monty Python skit rejects.

Spent three years refusing the entreaties of a captain who kept begging me to apply to the USAF Academy. No fucking way I was gonna go through four more years of boot camp (with extra chickenshit) on top of working on an engineering degree. Samantha Carter might have enjoyed it, I would not have.
