Learn from my mistake

Do not purchase a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed.

In fact, learn from the experiences of hundreds of people who can’t get their beds delivered.

At this point, the state consumer protection unit and FTC have gotten reports, as have three TV stations in the Jacksonville, FL area. I see someone has informed media in other states, too.

A conservative estimate, based on 403 complaints at Pissed Consumer alone, put this in the millions of dollars range.

Hate to say “I told you so” … during my research back around 2008, there were SO many complaints about that company (not all had to do with black mold.) I hope the company does right by you, eventually.

At the time, most of the complaints were unrelated, apparently settled matters. It looked no worse than any other big company. What hit us was something that seems to have started in October… just about the time we placed the order.

Of course, if I’d known about their former CEO going to prison for fraud (it was for what he did at a different company) I’d have had more reservations; it makes me worry about the general culture at any of his companies.

Good heavens, that’s terrible! I did look at the ads, since I have a very old back injury, but the price was ridiculous even back then. I have an Ortho “posturpedic” mattress and box springs that does the job quite nicely… cost me $250. about 25 years ago, and still looks and feels like new… will probably last me the rest of my life.

We wanted the variable geometry for my father: raise the head of the bed to help with his acid reflux. Too bad we can’t get it. Or the money.

I’m expecting lawsuits out of this.

Yes, the reflux problem was why I looked at it myself. Just would never have had that much money to spend on it, no matter how good it was. I did buy a solid foam wedge pillow and managed to arrange things so I could sleep with my head elevated. It wasn’t the best… but I just had to make do with what I could afford. Thank heavens I’ve not had any reflux at night (or any other time) for at least ten years now, and can sleep normally. Still have the wedge if I ever needed it again. 🙂
