Almost a point

OTOH, I’m fairly sure those conquistadors, Pilgrims, et cetera didn’t come in and demand that the current residents supply them with free housing, food stamps, free medical care, free schools, Supplemental Security Income, and citizenship in their tribes.

Nor did the Euro immigrants expect the Indians to subsidize their relocation to the New World.

Bear, do you know a source for the original of that map? I expand the picture and still can’t make out the text. Definitely a lot less than “500 Nations”.

Thank you, my unrelated brother. I do know some of that history, some of my ancestors were involved on the invading side. Not my fault, I didn’t do it. And most of the New England natives were already dead before Boston was settled, due to disease spread by fishermen before the colonists showed up (Mom’s family was in the second, third and later waves of Puritan immigrants).

See? That’s the kind of thing you get when you let foreigners move in without restriction.

If the Manhatto tribe had bothered to set up an effective bureaucracy, the Dutch would still be waiting for the immigration officials to clear their landfall paperwork…
