WTF? Forget the laws for a moment. Here’s a candidate whose people believe that dumping her toxic shit on an unsuspecting community is socially and morally acceptable. Now, city folk who’ve never had to deal with their own underlaying infrastructure may be thinking, “What’s the big deal? They were dumping it into the sewer, right?”
Wrong. They sorta semi aimed for a storm drain (and missed). Modern systems keep storm/rain water runoff and and septic systems separate. The septic sewage lines are closed and go to an appropriate treatment plant. Storm drains usually go to drainage ditches/canals, and finally straight to rivers and lakes. Lawrenceville, GA buys its water from Gwinett County. Gwinett gets its water from Lake Lanier. Gee, I wonder where Lawrenceville’s now contaminated storm drain water ends up.
And I wonder how many other communities across the country have been hit with the same problem, and may not even know the cause. I hope someone with aspirations to being a real reporter is backtracking the bus route and checking with local utility departments about contamination problems.
